Adolph was born 1829 in Schleswig, Holstein Germany. He departed Hamburg Germany, and arrived in the USA on May 28, 1855 on the Ship Odop. He was a resident of New Holstein, Calumet County and was a miller.

Adolph enlisted in the Union Army August 15, 1862 in Fond du lac. He listed his occupation as a miller. He had Hazel eyes, dark hair and a dark Complexion. He was mustered into the Army September 17 1862 in Milwaukee. He was taken prisoner July 1, 1863 and died while a Prisoner of War at Richmond VA on December 9, 1863. He was in Battle of Chancellorsville and Gettysburg.
