A memorial Mass for Gayle G. "Skip" Erdmann will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Msgr. John Fitzgerald officiating. Private inurnment will be at Riverside National Cemetery.

Mrs. Erdmann was born July 18, 1922, in Genesee, Idaho, to Eugene and Irene Herboth Bershaw. She was a graduate of Lewiston High School in Lewiston, Idaho, and attended the University of Colorado. She was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy. After her military service, she married Orville Erdmann in 1946 and moved to Lompoc in 1966 from Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico. In her earlier years, she was active with Little League baseball, YMCA, a 4-H advisor, and earned her private pilots license. Her memberships included the Lompoc Women's Republican Club, Alpha Club, where she served as the chair of its annual flower show, and Queen of Angels Church where she was a parishioner and worked on bazaars. She was also active with local charities including Meals on Wheels and Food Pantry.

She died Jan. 21, 2002, at her home.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Orville Erdmann, of Vandenberg Village; children, Tomas W. Erdmann, of Orange, Barbara J. Caldwell of West Hills, Susan Ziegler of Big Pine, Sharon Hallenbeck of Laguna Hills, Robert M. Erdmann, of Sebastopol, and Ted W. Erdmann of Los Angeles, sisters, Jerrie Easterday of Portland, Ore., Joyce Springer of Missoula, Mont., Barbara Lee Hayes, of Novato, and Donna Nicholson, of Great Falls, Mont; step-brothers, James Bershaw of Lewiston, Idaho, and Michael Bershaw of Lake Oswego, Ore.; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jeannie Noel.

Contributions may be made to Queen of Angels Church, 3495 Rucker Road or a charity of choice.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction Starbuck Lind Mortuary.
