Ted E. Gable, 76, of Alta Loma passed away on April 17, 2003. He was born in Scottsbluff, NE on Nov. 20, 1926. In earlier years he owned service stations in the Pomona-Ontario area. In later years he owned several liquor stores. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a charter member of the Claremont Lions Club. He loved square dancing and danced many years. He is survived by his loving wife, Rachel; daughter, Patrice of Dammeron Valley, UT; four stepsons, Norbert Mendoza of Yucca, AZ, Michael Mendoza of Anaheim, George Mendoza of Fontana and Richard Mendoza of San Gabriel; brother, Bill Gable of Scottsbluff, NE; and sister, Vonie Hatch of Harrison, NE; 27 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was a member of Etiwanda Community Church, where a memorial service will be held on May 2 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Arlington National Cemetery, Riverside, CA at 1:45 p.m. stage 4. Contributions may be made to City of Hope National Medical Center, 1500 E. Duarte Rd., Duarte, CA. Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God has laid for me, I took His hand when I heard Him call I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love to work or play, Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that peace at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Oh yes, these thing s I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee. God wanted me now; "He set me free."
