Mrs. Sarah E. Butcher died last Friday night, August 25, after illness of eighteen hours of cholera morbus. She was 53 years, 6 months and 28 days old. The remains were laid to rest last Saturday in WaKeeney cemetery. The family have the sympathy of the entire community.

Mrs. Charles W. Butcher died at her home near Banner last Friday and was buried in the WaKeeney cemetery the following day. We understand that cholera morbus was the cause of her death, and that she was sick only ten hours.

Sarah Elizabeth Doty married Charles Butcher January 24, 1869 in Jay County, Indiana. She is an 8th generation descendant of Mayflower passenger Edward Doty and the great-granddaughter of Peter Doty, a Revolutionary War Patriot.

Gravesite Details

Dates on this stone may not be correct. It is my understanding that the original graves for the Butchers were moved to make room for a highway and at that time the original wooden marker(s) were destroyed. Marilyn Rittel (great granddaughter)
