JUDITH (JUDY) DEVINEY MATTHEWS, was born on November 4, 1952 to Belle and Forrest E. Deviney. She passed away on March 2, 2003 at the age of 50. Judy was raised in Victoria and Corpus Christi and graduated from Texas A & I University. Judy married W. Lee Matthews on January 6, 1973.

She is survived by her husband and children, Cory L. Matthews and fiance Amanda L. McKinley-Smith, Jason B. Matthews and Erin N. Matthews. She is preceded in death by her father. Judy is survived by her mother and stepfather, James N. Smith; mother-in-law, Lettie M. Matthews; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Thomas F. and Cynthia K. Deviney; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy M. and William K. Myers; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby G. and Patricia M. Matthews; nieces and nephews Elizabeth Matthews, Robert Matthews, Aislinn Deviney and Forrest Deviney.

For the past five years, Judy has served First United Methodist Church of Missouri City as Director of Education Ministries. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 6 at 3:00 PM at First United Methodist Church of Missouri City at 3900 Lexington (at FM 1092), 281-499-3502. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Missouri City FUMC Judy Matthews Memorial Fund for Christian Education.
