Ishes Wed 50 Years
"Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Ish of San Leandro were honored at a 50th wedding anniversary reception in the Bethel Presbyterian Church in San Leandro, where they had been members for more than 17 years.
The highlight of the occasion of the couple was the surprise arrival of their daughter Sally Murray, who flew in from Queensland, Australia for the party. Mrs. Murray, who had not been expected to attend, helped plan the affair via long distance, with her two sisters, Jeanette Rollings of La Puenta and Kathryn Stahl of Santa Barbara. Several of Mt. and Mrs. Ish's six grandchildren and one great grandchild were present.
The honorees, both native Californian's were married in Willow Glen, near San Jose.
Mr. Ish is semi-retired, he was a wholesale plumbing salesman and now conducts evening classes in air conditioning.
Mrs. Ish, a homemaker, whose hobby was baby-sitting, is an active church member. She taught Sunday School classes in San Leandro for many years."
