Mrs. Jessica K. Adkins
Mrs. Jessica K. Adkins, 63, of Farmington, died Wednesday, March 20, at 2:55 p.m. in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua. She had been ill 3 months.
She was born Feb. 20, 1905 at Davenport, the daughter of Carl Diedrick and Sophie Voss Kopke. She spent her childhood at Davenport.
She married John Anthony Sherry Mary 29, 1927 in Davenport. He died Dec. 7, 1959. On March 21, 1965, she married Ira R. Adkins in Farmington and he survives. A resident of Davenport until 1941, she moved to Clark County, Mo., where she lived until 1960 when she moved to Farmington.
Mrs. Adkins was a member of the Methodist church, Famington, the John Ruskin Study Club, W.S.C.S., Rebekha Lodge No. 23, Mizpah chapter No. 24 O.E.S., and the Pioneer Historical Society.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Arlene) Stotts of Farmington, Mrs. Jack (Laura Jane) Dorothy of Cantril; 2 step-daughters, Mrs. Leon (Iris) Ufkes of Richland, Wash., Mrs. Kenneth (Joan) Reid of Davenport; 1 stepson, Roger Adkins of Burlington; 2 sisters, Mrs. J. H. (Corinne)Heller of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Curtis (Laura) Ellickson of Greenfield, Ohio; 8 grandchildren and 7 step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Walter Koepke on Jan. 2, 1956.
The funeral service was held Friday, March 22, at 2 p.m. in the Farmington Methodist church with the Rev. Harold Schirm officiating. Burial was in Christy cemetery 8 miles southwest of Farmington.
Miller’s Home for Funerals in Farmington was in charge of arrangements.
