The memorial service for A. H. Anderson was held at the Cookes Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock with Dr. George G. Hunt the officiating minister. Mr. Vere Boshart sang "In the Garden" and "Abide With Me". Mrs. Dan Winter played the organ. Pallbears were Jesse Anderson, Guy Anderson, Forrest Thompson, Foster Boal, Don Pratt and M. D. See. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery.
Alfred Henry Anderson, son of John and Sarah Anderson, was born in Henry County, Iowa, April 1, 1859, and passed away at his home in Mt. Pleasant, July 7, 1946, at the age of 87 years, 3 months and seven days. He was a life long resident of Henry and Van Buren counties with the exception of six years spent near Winfield, Kansas.
January 4, 1888, he was married to Eva Carter. To this union five childen were born: a son who died in infancy; Clarke and Mrs Floyd Coltrane of Stockport; Floyd of San Jose Calif.; and Kenneth of Tucson, Arizona. In addition to his wife and four living children, he is survived by eight grandchildren: Mrs. Fayette McKee, Mrs. Don Pratt, Milo, Darly and La Verne Anderson, all of Stockport; Helen Coltrane of Arlington, Virginia; Yvonne Anderson of Tucson; and Marilyn Jean Anderson of Colorado Springs; four great grandchildren Jimmy, Robert, Larry and Carolyn Anderson of Stockport; one sister Mrs. L. L. Thompson of Washington, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews who helped care for him in his last sickness.
Mr. Anderson was a member of the Star of Hope Odd Fellows lodge, the Camp, and Rebekahs. He had always enjoyed good health until his last illness of two months, during which he experienced no pain and was cheerful. His passing was peaceful.
