On 20 Aug 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Block, he married Audra Fern Gillogly. He was called to serve his country, and served with the US Army during the Korean War. Arriving back home, Hubie and Audra moved to Topeka, Kansas, where he became an electrician. It was in Topeka that their four children (Cindy, Carol, Dave, Dan) were born.
On 12 May 1997 his infectious smile and loving disposition were halted on this earth after a courageous fight against cancer. Besides his grieving widow, he was survived by his four children and their spouses; 7 grandchildren; three sisters; and six brothers.
