Hartford (WI) Press - 3 July 1925: AGED RESIDENT LAID TO REST. Louis Kissling Passed Away at Hospital Last Sunday Afternoon. Louis Kissling, an aged resident of this city, passed away at the Hartford hospital at five thirty o'clock last Sunday afternoon. Death followed an attack of dropsy with which the deceased had been suffering the past seven weeks, and with which he had been confined to the hospital for four days. He was born in Germany, December 30, 1845. Coming to this country at the age of ten, he settled with his parents in the town of Polk. When 20 years old he left for Scranton, PA., to return
later to the town of Hartford where he made his home on a farm near the Oil Spring farm. Here he lived until seven years ago, when he moved to this city to take up his residence upon North Avenue. He was married on May 2, 1868 at Scranton to Miss Mary E. Hammer(sic), who preceded him in death on January 16, 1917. Two of their children, Louise and Jacob, died in their early yout at Scranton and two others,
Charles and Emma, passed away here. One daughter, Miss Elizabeth Kissling and one sister, Mrs. Ferdant(sic) Eissner of Milwaukee are left to mourn his loss. Deceased was a frugal, industrious man, who put hjs faith in honest labor to bring him a livelihood. His funeral was held at one o'clock on Wednesday at the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Emma Kissling at 316 Rural Street at at St. John's church at one thirty. The remains were interred in Union Cemetery beside those of his wife. Rev. H. Wechelt had charge of the services.
