On my grandfather, Cardwell William Griggs, death certificate, my grandmother had his father as James Griggs, so go figure. She did know his mother's name. My grandmother and grandfather were married in 1915 and Bell didn't die for 7 years and my aunt was born in 1916 in Yeager, OK, so it wasn't like they were far apart. I don't know what the answer is.
