Maria's (Mary's) parents were German-Russian immigrants from Chernigov, Bessarabia, Russia, and she was born in Hermansburg, Russia and her mother tongue was German. She married Jakob Johan Aichele of Friedenstal, Russia (immigrated to North Dakota as well) on February 1908 at age 24. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1900. They had six children - Edwin, Esther, Jake, Jr., George, Robert H., and Elsie F. In 1930 she was living with her family in McClusky, Sheridan Co. North Dakota.
