"John, fourth child of John Matthew Garner and Mary (Brumbaugh) Garner, was born June 18, 1819. On April 10, 1839 he married Elleanor Norris who was born January 31, 1817 and died February 21, 1865. On July 10, 1870 he married a second time to Martha Adams, born July 9, 1842. He resides on a farm several miles from Entriken, Huntingdon County. He had ten children by his first marriage: David N., Mary A., Matthew G., Elizabeth, Elleanor, Thomas G., Margaret J., Catherine, John S. and Joseph A. He had four children by his second marriage: Emma, Lolitha, William D. and Martha."
