Born Dec. 8, 1928 in Russell County, she was a daughter of the late Burke and Sadie Perkins Dye.
A lifelong resident of the area, she was of the Holiness faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Danny Helton; four brothers, Edward Dye, J.C. Dye, Cecil Dye, and Clarence Dye; and one sister, Peggy Dye.
Survivors: daughters, Gaynelle Helton of the home, Colene Smith and husband, Jerry, of Honaker, Christine Martin and husband, Billy, of Rowe, Patricia Shortridge and husband, David, of Abingdon; sons, Clarence Helton and wife, Wanda, and Darrell Helton and wife, Sharon, all of Honaker, Randall Helton and wife, Joann, of Rosedale, Jimmy Helton of the home; sisters, Josie Keen of Roanoke, Dorothy Rose of Swords Creek; brothers, Sidney Dye, Worley Dye, Don Dye, and John Henry Dye, all of Swords Creek; special niece, Dolly Ball; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Rev. Ralph Shortridge, Rev. Peerman Lester, and Rev. Ancil Childress officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dye Cemetery at Swords Creek.
