Obituary for Abron Monroe

Abron Monroe was born in Clinton, Alabama on June 6, 1932. He was the son born from the union of the late Cleveland Monroe and the late Ruby Love. He was raised by his stepmother Virginia Monroe.

He had been employed by the Ford Motor Company for many years as a laborer.

Abron was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church and he enjoyed singing in their choir. He loved fishing and playing baseball. Abron enjoyed the company of others and entertaining friends whether barbequing or at his morning coffees. He was especially fond of his grandchildren.

Abron Monroe age 79 of Monroe passed away at 12:03pm, Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Fountainview of Monroe. In addition to his parents and stepmother his passing was preceded by a spouse: Luvina Wells Monroe on December 17, 2009.

His memory will forever be cherished by his children: Dexter Harris of Monroe, Jennifer Love Harris (Clifford) Rocker of Monroe, Stacie Stewart of Toledo, and Anthony McIntosh of Monroe, Lorietta Stewart of Toledo; stepchildren: Ashley (Patrick) Cheatham, Jermaine (Jody) Wells, Nathina Wells, Katrina (Dimarco) Hood, Patricia Ward, Kathy Lavender, Regina Small, Frank Small Jr., Ronald Doherty, Bryant Doherty, and Ryan Doherty; brothers: Vernon Monroe of Detroit and George Bardia Harris; sister: Hazelett (Jesse) Johnson; step brother: Mario McIntosh; a sister-in-law: Kathy Knight of Detroit, brothers-in-law: Charles Wells of Monroe, Andre, Aaron Knight, Chris Scott, Ada Pittman, Tony Pittman, and Terry Pittman; thirteen grandchildren: Darnell (Leslie) Leach, Tiatesha, Jesse, Jericka, Tyrone, Dexton, Odessa, Aaron, Antwone, Nichol, Leslie, Athena, and Kiara; and loved by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and special friends: Zelma Harris, Myra Small, Tonia Harris, and Anita Caldwell.

Friends may gather from 9:00am until 1:00pm, Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 1:00pm with the Reverend Allen Overton pastor of Second Missionary Baptist Church officiating.
