Jesse Rex Fowler passed away quietly in his home on June 14, 2011. He was preceded in death by wife Loris Fae, brother Harold, and sister Doris Christensen.

He is survived by wife Dora, sister Jewel Landures, son Darren and daughters Vicki Jensen, Sandra Carroll, Gloria Hall and Lori Rood.

Known as Rex to his friends and family, he was born May 19, 1931, in Altonah, where he spent his early years and graduated from Altamont High School.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and attended the University of Utah where he studied business and marketing and graduated with a Bachelor of Science. He returned to the Uintah Basin in 1956 to work for Moon Lake Electric and settled in Vernal.

He married Loris Fae Kidd in 1961 with whom he shared 38 wonderful years until her passing in 1999. He was a dedicated husband and loving father. He was married to Dora Wall in 2005 and spent his remaining years with her in Vernal.

Moon Lake Electric was fortunate to have Rex in their employ for 38 years; he was hired in 1956 and retired in 1994 as finance manager. While employed at Moon Lake, he also played on the company bowling team and was instrumental in the formation of and day-to-day operations of the Moon Lake Employee's Credit Union, an organization that meant nearly as much to him as his own family.

There were many things that Rex loved — the credit union, hunting, fishing, University of Utah sports teams, the Utah Jazz — but nothing was more important to him than his family with which he cherished every moment.

He never missed a family picnic where he could frequently be found at the head of the line at the food table and went on innumerable vacations and camping trips to the delight of his children and grandchildren alike.

He held a number of church callings, supported the Boy Scouts of America, and served as a temple ordinance worker for 15 years.

Quick to praise, slow to criticize, generous, thoughtful, honest, a gentleman in every sense. A loving father, faithful husband, loyal friend, he was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Funeral services were held June 17 at the LDS Vernal Stake Center. Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park with military honors by the American Legion Post 11 and 124, and the Utah Army National Guard under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary
