MELVIN A. BELL, 92, of Fort Wayne, died on Monday, June 27, 2011, 12:50 a.m., at Lutheran Hospital. Born July 18, 1918, of Fort Wayne, he was the son of C. Homer Bell and Blanche Rayl Bell. He was an engineer for the Pennsylvania R.R., retiring after 36 years in 1977. He was the last charter member of South Wayne United Methodist Church; member of Covenant United Methodist Church, the Railroad Museum of S. Florida, South Side Alumni Association, and the Fort Wayne Division Veterans Association of the Pennsylvania R.R. Surviving are his wife, Pharaba P. (Rosenbarger) Bell of Fort Wayne; son, Paul E. (Darcy) Bell of Auburn; daughter, Roberta (Harold Edwards) Bell Edwards; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Marion (Margaret) Bell of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Byler. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Jack Scott officiating.
