Born near Syracuse, he resided in Fort Wayne 55 years and retired in 1954 from the Post Office after 20 years of employment.
He was a member of the South Wayne Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Survivors include his wife Blanche, a daughter Mrs. Ralph J. Byler, Marion; two sons, Melvin A. and Marion E., both of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. C. A. Sickafoose, South Bend, and Mrs. Verne Snyder, Chicago.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Chalfant-Perry Funeral Home where services will be Wednesday at a time to be announced. Rev. Lyman Henry will officiate and burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
