Emma F. Messerley Evans, 70, died Saturday, March 22, in the Montpelier Hospital.

She was born December 23, 1909, at Montpelier to Robert and Eliza Kunz Messerley.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She worked all of her life in the restaurant business as a chef. She was well known throughout the Bear Lake area for her ability to prepare and serve outstanding food.

She married William Vermont Evans on July 18, 1941, in Malad. He died May 3, 1950.

Survivors include one son; Jack K. Evans, Houston, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Don (Bertha) George, Soda Springs, Mrs. Clarence (Erma) Alleman, Nounan, Mrs. Larry (Jean) Gertsch, Glens Ferry, and Mrs. Eugene (Eldean) Mahan, Bothel, Washington; two brothers, Melvin Messerley, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Lloyd Messerley, Montpelier; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 26, in the Montpelier Third Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Montpelier Cemetery.
