Lifelong Resident of Montpelier Dies
Edwin R. Messerly, 62, a lifelong resident of Montpelier, died at his home on Monday. He was born in Montpelier on February 18, 1906, the son of Robert and Eliza Kunz Messerly.
Mr. Messerly was a farmer and served as Montpelier Irrigation Company watermaster for the past eight years. He was a member of the LDS Church.
He was married to Ruth B. Nelson of Montpelier on December 25, 1934.
Survivors are his widow and three sons, Robert E. Messerly, Roger D. Messerly and Grant N. Messerly, all of Montpelier, six grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, Lloyd Messerly of Montpelier; Melvin Messerly of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Emma Evans of Montpelier; Mrs. Don (Bertha) George of Soda Springs; Mrs. Clarence (Erma) Alleman of Nounan; Mrs. Larry (Jean) Gertsch of Glenns Ferry; Mrs. Gene (Leola) Kivett of Springville, Missouri; and Mrs. Gene (Eldene) Mackan of Seattle.
Funeral services were Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Third-Fifth Ward chapel.

The death date was printed wrong on the stone. I am the granddaughter. It couldn't be changes so my grandmother just left it. He died on the 26th.
