Samuel Edward Buchanan, 59, of Greeneville, Greene County, TN, died Saturday, September 6, 2008 at his home. Mr. Buchanan was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Andrew Johnson Post No. 1990, and the American Legion. His family stated, "He was a proud Vietnam veteran, having served two tours." He was a son of the late Joe Harvey Buchanan and Kathlene Buchanan. He retired from Tennessee Aluminum Castings after 18 years. Mr. Buchanan was of the Baptist tradition of faith. His family stated, "He was a friend to all who knew him ... his life touched many people. Sam had a love for landscaping, gardening, music, camping, and visits to the ocean." He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ruth Ann Buchanan; his sons, Joshua Buchanan of Knoxville, TN, and Casey Buchanan of Greeneville, TN; three brothers and two sisters- in-law, Joe and Sherry Buchanan, Duane and Patti Buchanan, and James Buchanan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ronnie and Yvonne Waddell and Thomas and Robin Ripley, all of Greeneville, TN; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Haskell and Betty Wilburn; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Tammy and Terry Cutshaw and Dianne Lloyd; two brothers-in-law, Ricky Wilburn and Randy Wilburn, all of Greeneville, TN; his nieces and nephews and their spouses, Michael and Tanya Buchanan, Mark and Kim Morelock, Jeremy and Celia Weems, Laura Waddell, Leslie and Tim Foshie, Jason Ripley, Isaiah Johnson, Tamaráh Tipley, Matt Buchanan, Kim and David Melton, Christey Seay, Missey Willis, Jimmy Wilburn, Jason Wilburn, Joe Tipton, Chris Tipton, and Randall Wilburn; his very special great-nieces and great-nephews, Madison Waddell, Kendyl Foshie, Devin Seay, Nicholas Seay, Jonathon Melton, Tyler Melton, Faith Shelton-Tipton, Matthew White, Makala Ramsey, Corey Bales, Katlin Bales, Bryce Buchanan, Andrew Buchanan, Drew Buchanan, Britney Henderson, Alexis Morelock, Braydon Weems and Adyson Kathleen Ripley; his special aunts, Beatrice Edison and Georgia Kenner, both of Rogersville, TN, and Shirley Klepper of Greeneville, TN. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today and Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Doughty- Stevens Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the funereal home chapel. Pastor Dwayne Steele and the Rev. Clarence Gammill will officiate. Interment will follow in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery with a military graveside service. Pallbearers will be Burt Johnson, James Lane, David Klepper, Jerry Lee, George Payne, and Jeff Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be his special caregivers, Kim Patterson, Katherine White, and the staff at Caris Healthcare of Greeneville, TN.
