DOROTHY W. ADASKA MUNSTER, IN Dorothy W. Adaska, age 86, of Munster, IN, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2007. She is survived by her husband, Andrew M.; one daughter, Lori (Bill) Ranney of Potomac, MD; two grandsons: Nathan and Marcus Ranney of Potomac, MD; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Louis and Augusta Wassermann; one brother, Edwin Wassermann; and two sisters: Lois Eggert and Ellen Barney. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. DIRECTLY from St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8601 Harrison Ave., Munster, IN with Dr. Eric C. Stumpf officiating. Burial will be at Concordia Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at LaHayne Funeral Home, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN and on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church School would be appreciated. Dorothy trained to become a secretary while attending Hammond Tech High School. From her graduation until her retirement in 1973, she worked at several local and national insurance agencies. She married Andrew in 1953 and had a daughter, Lori Beth in 1955. Dorothy was a devoted mother and wife for 54 years. She was an excellent cook and a great baker known for her many types of cookies and breads. Dorothy loved to travel East to visit her two grandsons, Nathan and Marcus, who were the apples of her eye. No trip to Maryland where they lived was complete without breads, coffee cakes and cookies for those two boys. Dorothy's other talent was her voice. She began her singing at Hammond Tech as a member of several of the school's choirs. She also sang with the St. Paul's Choir where her talent led to her being selected to the Lake County Walther League Choir. She loved to go camping and the family took several summer long trailing vacations. Dorothy was one of the most sharing people and will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
