Services for James B. "Shorty" Stroud Jr., 71, who died June 24, 2011, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Bude. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Enlow Cemetery in Doloroso under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Mr. Stroud was born on June 23, 1940, in Franklin County, the son of James B. Sr. and Kemeil Stroud.

Mr. Stroud was preceded in death by his parents and one son-in-law, Dean Leggett.

Survivors include three sons and three daughters; Mike Stroud, Sherry Tillman, Brenda Evans, James E. Stroud, Howard Stroud and his wife Kathy and Wanda Price; two sisters, Eunice Bryant and Marie Rice; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
