Richard Lee Greene was the youngest of 14 children born to John R. & Mabel M. Watson Greene in Wilkes County, North Carolina (per Death Certificate). He was raised in Stony Fork, North Carolina (per 1880 census). The 1900 census states that he was married in 1888, to Conzora Elizabeth Carlton, daughter of Mary Louisa Miller Carlton. He and Zora were the parents of 8 children, them being:
Manarka Lou Greene Adkins (1891-1933), Sarah Thurza Greene Carswell (1893-1992), Mila Greene (1895-Bef. 1910), William McKinley Greene (1896-1975), Ola Mae Greene McLean (1902-1982), George Carl Greene (1906-1977), Mattie Beatrice Greene Reece (1909-1998) and Nettie Zelma Greene Kirkpatrick (1912-1969)
Richard can be found in the 1900 Census as a Farmer living in Elk, Wilkes, North Carolina, his wife, "Canzara Green" (Conzora) states she has 4 living children of 5.
By 1910, you can find the family living in Lenoir, Caldwell, North Carolina, Richard is a General Laborer and her and Zora had been married for 23 years (ca. 1887) and "Sora Green" (Wife - Conzora) is the mother of 9 children, 6 of whom are living.
Richard passed away from obstructed bowel complications in Morganton, North Carolina on September 24, 1918. His widow was remarried to James M. G. Reece on March 21, 1920 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. She remained in Virginia up to her passing, and is buried there. Richard was buried on September 25, 1918.

Dr. Pitts, of Lenoir, was here Sunday with Mr. Richard Green, of Caldwell, who was being take to Grace Hospital, Morganton. Mr. Green underwent an operation Sunday night. We wish for him a speedy recovery.

Mr. Richard green, who died at Grace Hospital Tuesday night, was buried Wednesday at Antioch, Rev. J. M. Harris conducting the services. He leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his departure. May God comfort them in their sorrow.
