Announcement of the death of Ross N. Bird, aged 71, who expired at 9:00 o'clock Friday morning, at his residence on West Main street, was a severe shock to his wide circle of friends, only a few of whom knew that he was ill with pneumonia. Mr. Bird was born in Addison township. When a young man, he came here to accept employment as a moulder in a local iron foundry. Mr. Bird served two or three terms as Street Commissioner. He is survived by his widow and two children, Frank Bird and Mrs. Fred Ulery, both of this place. Funeral services were held at the Bird home at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. M. Turner, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, followed by interment in Husband cemetery. Somerset Herald
