"Lillian Champion Latimer, age 96, of Abilene and former Novice and Coleman resident, died Friday, July 26, 2013 at an Abilene nursing home. Graveside funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 29 at the Coleman Cemetery Pavilion with Bob Martin, minister at Elm Street Church of Christ in Coleman, officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.

"She was born Minnie Lillian Breeding on January 22, 1917 in Oplin, Texas, a daughter of Tommy Breeding and Delphia Clements Breeding. She grew up in Oplin and graduated from Oplin High School in 1934. In 1938 she married James Archie Champion and he preceded her in death on January 22, 1969. In 1972 she married Virgil Latimer in Coleman and they were married for 13 years, when he preceded her in death. Lillian lived in many places in Texas including Cross Plains, Cottonwood, Silver Valley, Novice, Coleman, Lake Brownwood, Bangs and finally Abilene, where she has lived for over 20 years. While living in Coleman, she was a sales clerk for J. E. Stevens Company. She was a member of the Novice Church of Christ. She loved to travel and had most most of the 50 states. She also enjoyed quilting and made many beautiful quilts for her family.

"She is survived by her daughter, Gail Agnew and husband Marvin of Belton, their daughter Cinci Mitchell and husband Jimmie of Beeville, and their children Cass and Clanci Mitchell; Gail's son, Murray Agnew and wife Brandy and their children Colton and Charley Agnew all of Groesbeck; Lillian's son, Tommie Weldon Champion and wife Shirley, and their daughter Melissa Fisher and husband Michael all of Abilene; one brother, Vernon (Bud) Breeding and wife Billie of New Braunfels.

"She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Clarence; and three sisters, Myrtle, Eva and Veda.

"Memorials may be made to the donor's charity of choice."
