When a boy of about fifteen years removed with his parents to Durham, Conn., where he lived until about 1750, and then became one of the pioneer settlers of Granville, Mass., where he continued during the remainder of his life, engaged in farming.

On Nov. 15, 1759, he was chosen deacon of the Granville Congregational Church and held this office over thirty years until his death, which occurred July 27, 1790, aged sixty-four years, according to his gravestone.

His will dated July 7, 1790, probated Sept. 7, 1790, names wife Hope* sons Israel, David, Seth, Gad, and Ephraim, daughter Hannah wife of Josiah Clark, and daughter Rachel Coe. (Hampshire Co. Probate, vol. 84, p. 21.)

He married first, in Middletown, Conn., July 8, 1746, Dorcas Aludt*

He married second in 1750, Hope Hubbard, born about 1781, died in Granville» Mass., Jan. 1, 1810, in her eightieth year. Hope Coe»
