Neva Almeda Watwood, 92, of Waco, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Clifton Sunset Home in Clifton, Texas. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 at 2:00 in the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Watwood was born in Madill, Oklahoma on March 7, 1919, to Jessie Garvin and Bessie Mae (Martin) Shaw. She graduated from Dorchester High School. She married Willie O'Dell Watwood on March 19, 1938.
Mrs. Watwood was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked side by side with her husband, Rev. W.O. Watwood as he pastored churches as a minister in the Church of God for many years.
Mrs. Watwood was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Rev. W.O. Watwood and their two children, Jesse Eugene "Gene" Watwood and Dell Roy Watwood. She is also preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Murlene Watwood, her three grandchildren and their families: Sonja Watwood Schulz and husband Jeff Schulz and daughters Natalie and Olivia Schulz of Nacogdoches, Texas; Shane Watwood and wife Meg and children Sophia, Cullen, and Liam of Waco, Texas; and Shawn Watwood and wife Christina of Nashville, Tennessee. She is also survived by two brothers, Rev. Maurice Shaw and wife Pauline of Simms, Texas, and Daniel Shaw and wife Joann of Bells, Texas.
A very special thank you to Providence Hospice of Waco, Texas for the wonderful caretaking they did for Mrs. Watwood in her final days.
