John Jacob Pfeiffer likely immigrated to America from Weisseichenland, an area on the border of Germany and Switzerland, in 1756 and settled with his wife, Cathrina Margretha (Catharina Margaretha) [and for whom no maiden surname is provided] in Tulpehocken Twp. Berks County, PA in December of that year. John Jacob was a farmer, is reported to have participated in the Revolutionary War, and was very active in the Host Reformed Church.
John Jacob and Cathrina had thirteen children, six boys and seven girls and all but one child may have outlived their parents. First born was Catharine Elisabeth who was born December 4, 1756 in Weisseichenland. She was baptized December 25, 1756 in Tulpehocken Twp. She married Henry Holzberger on February 11, 1787. Next was Anna Eva, born October 21, 1759 and baptized October 28, 1759. (She may have died shortly thereafter??) The third child was Peter who was born December 25, 1762. He was married on October 28, 1783 to Maria Catherine Weigant, and Peter died on January 29, 1834. The fourth child was Magdalena who was born in 1763, no month or date listed. She was married on December 25, 1790 to John Jacob Kruger (Kreiger). Next came John who was born August 12, 1765 and baptized in the Heidelberg Reformed Church, Schaefferstown, Lebanon County, on October 6, 1765. It appears he married Anna Maria (no surname listed and no date given), and no date of death for either is listed. The sixth child and fourth daughter was Maria Catharina who was born November 27, 1767 and baptized two days later at Host Reformed Church. She married Gottfried Holzman but the date of her marriage and the date of her death are not specified. The seventh child and third son was Philip who was born June 14, 1769. Philip married Margaretha (Miller) (ll/25/1769-2/18/1793) and took Catharine Marie (nee Millern Kruger) (1/15/1774-10/14/1851)as his second wife on March 22, 1796. He died on February 7, 1850. The eighth child and fourth son was Johanna George who was born August 24, and baptized September 1, 1771, at Host Reformed Church. J. George married Sybilla (Riehl). He died on April 18, 1827 and is buried at Host Reformed Church. Next came Susanna who was born May 20, 1773. She married George Meyer. Susanna died on February 4, 1833 and is buried with her husband in the Host Cemetery. The tenth child and fifth son was Michael who was born June 12, and baptized July 10, 1775. Michael was married to Anna Maria (Munch) on November 22, 1792. He died on December 22, 1853; his wife died on July 6, 1850, and both are buried at the Salem Reformed Church Cemetery, Bethel, Berks County, PA. The eleventh child was Margaretha, born in 1777, no month or day listed. She married George J. Deck on November 25, 1800. No date listed for her death. Anna Maria was the twelfth child, and she was born February 4, and baptized March 26, 1780. She married Henry Deck on December 5, 1802, and she died on July 5, 1839. The thirteenth child and sixth son, Henrich, was born on January 6, 1782. Henrich was married to Anna Maria (Riehl) on August 15, 1802, and he died on April 10, 1847.
