The family moved to Benjamin when he was a child. He attended school there and in Payson, also the Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and Brigham Young College in Logan, Utah. He attended Chiropractors School in Davenport, Iowa, for two years and graduated from the Los Angeles School of Chiropractors in 1923.
He married Georgena Hill on June 6, 1900, in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Logan until 1929 when they moved to Bothwell. They have lived in Tremonton since 1939.
Dr. Hawkins filled a Mission from 1896 - 1899. He served as a Bishop's Counselor in the Bothwell Ward and was a member of the Bear River Stake High Council.
He was also a member of the Cache Valley Boy Scout Commission.
Surviving is his widow, Tremonton, Utah; and the following sons and daughters: William D, Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Manton (LaPreal) Moody and Grant H, Oakland, California; Mrs. Rudd (Georgena) Hardesty, San Mateo, California; Frank H, Irvington, California; Mrs. Eugene (Beatrice) Holladay, Winnemucca, Nevada; John F, Tremonton, Utah; also 29 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and 4 sisters: Dr. Carl Hawkins and Mrs. Effie Benson, Salt Lake City, Utah; Brazee and Mrs. Rulon Snow, San Diego, California; Mrs. May Tuttle, Provo, Utah; and Mrs. Rebecca Wilson, Benjamin, Utah.
Burial was held in the Bothwell Cemetery, Bothwell, Utah.
