SHELBINA WOMAN KILLED AS AUTO GOES INTO DITCH
Accident on Curve North of Plevna, Mo., Fatal to Mrs. E. J. Bryant.

Shelbina, Mo., Oct. 23. — Mrs. E. J. Bryant, prominent resident of Shelbina, was fatally injured last night about 8 o'clock when the car driven by her daughter, Miss Lucille Bryant of Edina, left the road on a curve and overturned in a ditch one mile north of Plevna, in Knox county.
Lucille Bryant and her sister-in law Mrs. Wayne Bryant, of Kansas City, were unhurt. The car was only slightly damaged.
The accident was reported to have occurred when Miss Bryant, who operates a beauty parlor in Edina, mistook the direction of the curve and headed the car toward the ditch instead of continuing on the road. Mrs. Bryant suffered broken neck.
The group was en route to Shelbina. Mrs. Bryant and her daughter-in-law had gone to Edina to meet Miss Bryant and the latter was returning with them to spend the week-end.
Mrs. Bryant was socially prominent and one of Shelbina's best known women. She was a member of the Baptist church and of several church and social organizations. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Connor [sic] and was born in Promise City, la.
Surviving beside her husband, are two sisters, Mrs. Charles Roberts and Miss Mary Connor [sic], both of Promise City; one brother, Lee Connor of Promise City; two sons, Merle Bryant of Shelbina and Wayne Bryant of Kansas City, and her daughter.

Shelbina, Mo., Oct. 24. — Short funeral services for Mrs. E. J. Bryant , who died as the result of an automobile accident Saturday evening, near Plevna, were held in the First Baptist church in Shelbina at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon, with the Rev . O. P. Grobe in charge. Services were also held at Promise City, la., and interment was there.
Mrs. Bryant, the former Cloy Connor, was a daughter of Thomas J. and Belinda Elisabeth Conner.
She was born In Promise City, November 15, 1878. She attended school there and married Edward J. Bryant, a native of Promise City, December 14, 1899. They moved to
Shelbina in 1920, where her husband is at present an employe of the Farmers' Produce company. She was a member of the Baptist church for many years, and was also, an active member in several fraternal organizations and lodges, among them the W. P. F. A.
Surviving are her husband, E. J. Bryant; two sons, Merle Raymond of Shelbina, and Wayne F. of Kansas City; a daughter, Miss Lucille of Edina; a grandchild, Rosemary Bryant of Kansas City; two brothers, Lee and Ray Connor of Promise City, la. and a sister, Mrs. Maggie RDoberts [sic], of Promise City.
