Lyman G. Dear, Sr., 84, of 573 Austin St., a retired policeman, died yesterday in the Ann Arbor Veteran's Administration Hospital. Mr. Dear was born in Buffalo and lived in Toledo 65 years. He was a member of the Toledo Police Department 20 years, retiring 31 years ago. Mr. Dear was a veteran of three wars - the Spanish-American War, World War I, and World War II. He was commander of the Egbert Camp Spanish-American War Veterans, and a member of Uncle Sam's 1, 2, 3 Boys and Maumee Valley Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Naomi Thomas and Mrs. Lulu Haden, and stepsons Walter and Frank Hochmuth, all of Toledo; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The body is in the H.H.Birkenkamp Mortuary, Broadway, where services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The VFW will post an honor guard in the mortuary Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
