Francis West, the first born child of Samuel West & Tryphosa Partridge, was b. of record at Duxbury, Mass. on Dec. 13, 1669. He d. testate at Tolland, Conn. on May 12, 1731, Æ 62, not 63 as inscribed on his gravestone. His parents m. of record at Duxbury, Mass. on Dec. 16, 1668.

Francis' mother was the maternal gr.dau. of Stephen Tracy & Tryphosa Lee, who m. at Leiden, Holland on Jan. 2, 1620/1. Stephen Tracy arrived at Plymouth, Mass in 1623 aboard the ship "Ann," his wife Triphosa following thereafter with eldest dau. Sarah in 1624 aboard the ship "Jacob."

Francis West is the patriarch of the West family of Tolland, Conn. while Francis' three younger brothers, Samuel, Ebenezer & John, are patriarchs of the West families of Lebanon, Conn.

On Dec. 20, 1696 at Preston, Conn. (by Samuel Mason, Assistant), Francis m. Mercy Minor, dau. of Dr. Joseph Minor & Maria Avery. She was b. on Aug. 21, 1673 at Stonington, Conn. and d. at Tolland, Conn. on Sept. 6, 1751, Æ 79. The day after their first child was baptized at Preston, Samuel & wife Mercy were admitted members of the Preston Church. They were subsequently received by letter of dismission from Preston and admitted to the Stonington Church on Nov. 1, 1702. After relocating to Tolland, Conn. Francis was the longtime Deacon of the Tolland Congregational Chh.

Francis & wife Mercy had the following seven children, the first b. of record at Preston, Conn, the rest undoubtedly at Stonington, Conn. where they were baptized:

i. Mercy West, b. at Preston, Conn. on Oct, 30, 1697 (bapt. Feb, 12, 1698/9), d. at Windham, Conn. on Jan. 20, 1725/6, Æ 29; m. at Windham, Conn. on Feb. 14, 1715/6, Nathaniel Wales, s. of Dea. Nathaniel Wales & Susanna Blake, b. at Milton, Mass. on May 25, 1694. He d. at Windham, Conn. on Nov. 5, 1782, Æ 89. He m. 2) at Windham on Dec. 17, 1726, Prudence Denison, who d. at Windham on May 15, 1792, Æ 83.

ii. Samuel West, b. at Stonington, Conn. on Apr. 10, 1700, d. at Tolland, Conn. on Feb. 3, 1779, Æ 79; m. 1) at Tolland on Nov. 4, 1724, Sarah Delano, dau. of Capt. Jonathan Delano & Ann "Amy" Hatch, b. at Dartmouth, Mass. on Mar. 18, 1704/5. She d. at Tolland, Conn. on Oct. 22, 1752, Æ 48. Samuel m. 2) at Tolland on Nov. 26, 1754, the widow Abigail Lothrop, dau. of Dea. John Baker & Anna Annable, b. at Barnstable, Mass. on Feb. 1, 1713/4. She d. at Tolland, Conn. on Dec. 24, 1786, Æ 73. [*1]

iii. Dea. Joseph West, b. Oct. 1, 1701 (bapt. Nov 30, 1701 at Stonington), d. at Tolland, Conn. on Jan 27, 1764, Æ 63; m. at Tolland on May 19, 1725, Joan "Jane" Delano, the sister of his brother Samuel's 1st wife, b. at Dartmouth, Mass. on Dec. 16, 1706. She d. at Tolland on May 8, 1798, Æ 92. [*1]

iv. Amasa West, bapt. Mar. 27, 1704 at Stonington, Conn., d. after 1759; m. 1) on July 8, 1730 at Tolland, Conn., Amy Hatch, eldest child of Capt. Joseph Hatch, Jr. & Marcy Delano, b. at Tolland, Conn. on Oct. 10, 1713. She d. at Tolland on Aug. 9, 1756, Æ 43. Amasa m. 2) at Tolland on Sep. 20, 1757, Bethshua Gibbs of Sandwich, Mass.

v. Hon. Zebulon West, Esq., bapt. Mar. 16, 1707/8 at Stonington, Conn., d. at Tolland, Conn. on Dec. 4, 1770, Æ 63; m. on Oct. 7, 1731 at Dartmouth, Mass., Mary Delano, dau. of Jabez and Mercy (Delano) Delano, b. at Dartmouth, Mass. on Apr. 12, 1712. She d. at Tolland, Conn. on May 14, 1743, Æ 32.

vi. Christopher West, bapt. June 19, 1709 at Stonington, Conn.; m. on Oct. 25, 1732 at Tolland, Amy Delano, the sister of his brother Samuel and Joseph's wives, b. at Dartmouth, Mass. on Aug. 11, 1713. They and their family removed to Dover in Dutchess County, NY. [*1]

vii. Peletiah West, bapt. Sept. 30, 1711 at Stonington, Conn., d. on July 11, 1787 at Lee, Mass., Æ 76; m. on Dec. 5, 1734 at Tolland, Conn., Elizabeth Lothrop, dau. of Capt. Hope and Elizabeth (Lothrop) Lothrop, b. on June 20, 1712 at Falmouth, Mass. She d. at Lee, Mass. on Mar. 17, 1800, Æ 88.

[*1] Through their father, the respective Delano sisters Sarah, Jane and Amy, the respective wives of brothers Samuel, Joseph and Christopher West, were 5th generation descendants of 1620 Mayflower passenger Richard Warren.
