Sam was born April 21, 1917, in Clarion, Pa., the son of the late Frederick B. and Blanche C. Stewart Hartman. He was a 1935 graduate of Sligo High School. Sam was employed at Struthers Wells before WWII, and then spent many years working for City Ice and Beverage. Sam enjoyed gardening, working outdoors, and maintaining his home. He especially enjoyed his family and friends.
He is survived by a daughter, Marian K. Hartman, Russell; three sons, Frederick L. Hartman, Stoneham, James E. Hartman and his wife, Ellen, Virginia Beach, Va., and Richard A. Hartman and his wife, Patricia, East Greenwich, Rhode Island; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on June 19, 1994 by his wife, Alma B. Guild Hartman, whom he married on August 25, 1939 in N. Warren; and a brother, Carl Hartman.
