Vern Allen Roche passed away on January 14, 1997, in the Bear River Valley Hospital. He was born on February 14, 1923, in Thatcher, Utah, a son of Alan Everad and Alice Erma Anderson Roche. He was raised and lived in Thatcher, Utah, all of his life.

He married Birdie Marie Petersen on November 22, 1943, in the Logan LDS Temple.

He was a farmer and dairyman and through hard work, he achieved many accomplishments. He owned and operated his own farm, building his own home of which he and his wife have lived in for 50 years. Although his body was worn out and weak he continued doing his own farming until the day he died.

He enjoyed doing good for his family and friends. If there was something to be done you could count on Vern to be there. One of the highlights of his life was his prize-winning draft horse-pulling team, which he eventually had to give up due to poor health.

Vern loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. Vern was the fifth of 15 children.

He was a High Priest in the Thatcher-Penrose Ward and had served in the Bishopric, as Sunday School President, High Priest Group Leader, and Scout Leader, and was presently a dedicated Home Teacher.

He was a Veteran of World War II serving his country from December 14, 1944, to July 31, 1946, and received an honorable discharge.

Vern is survived by his wife, Thatcher, Utah; three sons and two daughters and their spouses: Barry (Diane) Roche, St George, Utah; Sherrie (Yale) King, Thatcher, Utah; Ricky (Kathy) Roche, Las Vegas, Nevada; Melanie (Gordie) Young, Thatcher, Utah; Cody (Connie) Roche, Tremonton, Utah; 18 grandchildren and 7 step-greatgrandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers and ten sisters: Doug Rooche, Garland, Utah; Milton Roche, Thatcher, Utah; Franklin Roche, Salt Lake City, Utah; Phyllis Valentine, Brigham City, Utah; Juanita Evans, Bothwell, Utah; Ora Lewis, Thatcher, Utah; Margorie Peters, Brigham City, Utah; Ruth Steed and Vicky Archibald, Plymouth, Utah; Connie Fridal, Janice Chournos, Jean Barnes, all of Tremonton, Utah; Micky Newman, St George.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Blanche Pledger, and one grandson, "Little Jay Boy".

Burial was held in the Bothwell Cemetery, Bothwell, Utah.
