Mr. Smith was born in St. Clair County, Ala., on Jan. 9, 1920, son of the late James W. and Josie Ramsey Smith. He had spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County and was a retired employe of Trend Mills. He was a member of the North Rome Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Frazier; two sons, James M. Smith, Lindale, and Lesley Smith, Rome; four sisters, Mrs. Thomas Coley, Rome, Mrs. Carl Fox and Mrs. Grady Abney, of Lindale; and Mrs. Edith Brock, of Cleveland, Tenn.; two brothers, Hayden Smith, of Gadsden, Ala., and Ernest Smith, of Rome; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Greg Frazier, Chris Frazier, Jerry Smith, Horace Smith, Harold Smith, Jimmy Rush, Jeffery Frazier, Bobby Fox, Ronnie Brock and Steve Brock.
The Henderson-Frazier Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
