Mrs. Mary Lynn Frazier Smith, 83, of 104 Linden St., died Saturday at a local hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Smith was born September 7, 1920, daughter of the late John A. Frazier Sr. and Lennie Callaway Frazier. A graduate of Cave Spring High School, she graduated from the Crawford Long Hospital School of Nursing as an Army nurse. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Smith was employed as the Director of Nursing at McCall Hospital and at Shorter College as the head of the Infirmary. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Hollywood Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband S. J. Smith in August 1972, to whom she was married June 29, 1949.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons, Mike Smith and his wife, Sarah, and Les A. "Bird" Smith; two grandsons Christopher J. Smith and Jeremy J. Smith, and a grandaughter-in-law Amy Smith. Two brothers, Judge John A Frazier Jr. and Cary Frazier also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Lynn Frazier Smith will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Thomas B. Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel's Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Dingler officiating. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening at Daniel's and at other hours may be contacted at the residence.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at Daniel's Monday at 2:15 p.m.: Dale Carpenter, Dan Knowles, Randy Tillery, Derrick McClinic, Keith Dudley, and Alan Reynolds.
