Daughter of Eli Brumson Nims and Emily Celeste Brainard. Her paternal lineage can be traced back to 1667 with Godfrey Nims. Her maternal lineage goes back to Robert Spencer (1406-1477) of Colmworth, Bedforshire, England. This is a link to Lady Diana Spencer, whose son, William, will one day be king of England.

Edie married James Henry Orr in 1877. They were married ten years before James died. She was left with five children Lawrence Guy,( b. 9/29/1878), Ethel (b. 2/1880), Flora (b. 10/1881), Elsie (b. 12/1883)and Jeanette (b. 9/1885) In 1892 she married a widower with four children, William C. Swanders, also of Liberty Township, Delaware County, Indiana. Together they had two sons, Fred D. and Kenneth D. Swander. She is buried with first husband, James Henry Orr. Her second husband, William Clark Swander, is buried with his first wife, Eliza A. Hirons who died in 1890.
