Eli Bronson Nims was born December 17, 1813 in Jefferson Co., N.Y. to Leonard and Electa (McKee) Nims. In 1853, he came to Jones Co., Iowa with his family. He married Miss Emily C. Brainard October 10, 1843 in Westfield Ohio. She was born in Medina Co., Ohio, August 5, 1822. They had nine children; Delos E Nims, Dwight B. Nims, John Welton Nims, Lewis Herbert Nims, William Archer Nims, Willis Arthur Nims, Eddie Nims, Ida A. Nims and Ada E. Nims.

The family was in Concord, Burneau, Illinois for the 1850 census, and in Wyoming, Jones, Iowa for the 1860 US Census. Cady Cemetery, Center Junction, Jones Co., Iowa

Eli Nims died January 12, 1861 in Wyoming, Illinois. Mr. Nims left to his wife 160 acres of land with their son William Archer Nims to manage the farm. William married Miss Martha Smith November 27, 1873. She was born in Grant Co., Indianna and came to Jones Co. with her parents as an infant.

This couple had three children; Myrtie A., Laura E. and Eli S.; They lived on Sec. 16 in Wyoming.
