Clinton Penrod, 78 years old, died Wednesday night at his home in the New Bethel community. He was a farmer, and native of that community. He had been in failing health for six years.
He was born Feb. 28, 1882, the son of Wm. and Georgia McCain Penrod. In 1907, he married the former Miss Hannah Pinkerton.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert Robinson and Mrs. Bobby Gene Bollinger of Jackson; seven sons, Glenn Penrod of Lynwood, Calif., Dennis Penrod and Howard Penrod of Cape Girardeau, Harry Penrod of Clovis, New Mexico, Erlis Penrod, Roy Penrod and Clinton Penrod, Jr., of Jackson; two sisters, Mrs. Della McClard of Cape Girardeau and Mrs. Minnie Newman of Alabama; two brothers, Lee Penrod of Jackson and Joe Penrod of Georgia, 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A daughter, Lucille, passed away in 1936.
