James Rodman Burial Here On Tuesday
Funeral services for James Rodman of Greene, formerly of the La Porte City vicinity were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Presbyterian church of Greene. Rev. Fred Butler, church pastor, officiated.
Burial was made in the family lot in West View cemetery, La Porte City.
Mr. Rodman died suddenly of a heart attack Saturday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carl Smith of Ionia, where he had spent several weeks.
James R. Rodman was born to John and Martha Nutt Rodman, March 5, 1878 at Traer. Later he moved with his parents to a farm near Cedar Falls and then to a farm southwest of La Porte City.
On Jan. 20, 1901 he married Hattie Burrows of La Porte City, who preceded him in death May 22, 1947.
He farmed west of La Porte City and near Mt. Auburn until moving to a farm near Charles City in 1911. After five years he moved to Greene and spent the remainder of his life in that area.
Surviving are ten children, Kenneth, John, Mrs. Arthur Weiss, and Mrs. Ardine Landers of Greene, James of Sumner, Mrs. Glenn Knutson of Fredericksburg, Mrs. John Richardson of Clinton, Mrs. Walter Wilhelm of Bristow, Mrs. Verne Schmidt of Clarksville and Mrs. Carl Smith of Ionia.
Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, one brother, Ray Rodman of Wyoming, Iowa and two sisters, Mrs. Ida McBride and Mrs. Frank Denniston of Waterloo.
