Funeral services were held last Thursday at the Arroyo Seco Parish for Maximiano Martinez who died of a stroke while driving his car on Feb. 29. He was 69. Mr Martinez was a member of the prominent Martinez family of Arroyo Seco who have been politically and civicaly active for generations. A cattle and sheep raiser in the county for years, Mr Martinez was a member of the Union de Labradores Unidos. Surviving are his wife Mrs Juanita P Martinez; five sons, Palemon, Epifanio and Roberto of Santa Fe, Levinio of Arroyo Seco and Jose of Pueblo, Colo; four daughters, Mrs Joe D (Eliza) Archuleta and Mrs Loren (Soledad) Anaya of Taos, Mrs Joe E (Raquel) Garcia of Pueblo, Colo, and Miss Elivra Martinez of Arroyo Seco; seven brothers: Leandro, Toribio, Abelino, Miguel, Saturnino, Indalecio and Lucio, five sisters: Feliciana Herrera, Ana Torres, Feliz Rael, Marcelina Martinez and Timotea Vigil. Also surviving are 37 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Burial was in the Arroyo Seco cemetery with Father Joseph C Doyle officiating. Funeral arrangements were by Garcia's Funeral Home.
