Sarah Smith White, 95, a former resident of Route 2, Box 428-1, Elkins, and more recently a resident of Dillwyn, Va., departed this life Tuesday morning, July 29, 2003, at her residence. She had been in declining health for the past year and death was attributed to cancer.
She was born Thursday, Feb. 20,1908, at Wymer, a daughter of the late Robert Smith and Lucreti Lambert.
Surviving are one grandson, Tom Tingler, Dillwyn, Va.; one sister, Clora White; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ezra Tingler; three brothers, Joseph, Robert and Steven Smith; two sisters, Anna Waybright and Floda Summerfield.
She attended the schools of Randolph County, and worked as a nurses' aide at Davis Memorial Hospital.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, at which time final rites will be conducted. The Rev. Randall Richards will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Sarah Smith White
