Daniel Sterner, one of the oldest residents of Quakertown, died on Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Becker, No. 1427 Liberty street, Allentown. He was in the 86th year of his age. He was born in Springfield township, Bucks county, September 12th, 1823, and was a son of Jacob and Margaretta J. Sterner. For many years he was engaged in cigar manufacture, from which he retired a number of years ago on account of failing health. He went to Allentown in April. Several weeks ago he became ill with general debility. Mr. Sterner was married twice. By his first wife, Mary Snyder, he is survived by one son, Stephen, of Philadelphia. By his second wife, Priscilla Harner, who survives him, he is survived by these children: William H., Harry H. and Mrs. Samuel Becker of Allentown; Celia, wife of Rev. Oscar Hillegass of Northampton; Mrs. Frank Long of Quakertown, and Charles Sterner of Philadelphia. There are eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Sterner was the last of a family of 10 children.
