LaVerne Posey, 71, a longtime resident of Springtown, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011, in Weatherford. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Monday in Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home, 401 N. Main St., Springtown.

LaVerne Posey was born Jan. 26, 1940, in Detroit, daughter of the late Charles Emmitt and Tessie Bell Bunch Shipp. She married Billy D. Posey on July 20, 1956, and they began their life together. LaVerne was very talented at making floral arrangements and ceramics and loved to crochet and cook. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Posey; a daughter, Betty LaVerne Millsap; a grandson, Sean Michael Moore; her parents; a sister, Melba Brimhall; and brother, Royce Emmitt Shipp.

Survivors: Daughters, Teresa Cobb and husband, James, of Mineral Wells, Cathy Moore and husband, Mike, of Aledo and Delores Hulsey and Eddy Crawford of Springtown; grandchildren, Christi, James, Sandy, Candy, Misty, Billy and Brandie; great-grandchildren, Christian Tyler, Jillian, Dylan, Bobby, Andrew and Abigail; sister, Patricia Patterson of New Mexico; sister-in-law, Wanda Shipp of Weatherford; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
