Robert O'Dell Ward

Robert O. "Pete" Ward, 92, passed away on June 14, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born November 30, 1918 in Weston, Idaho the son of Richard A. and Hazel Ward. Pete served in the US Marines during World War II for five years.

Pete married Julia Yvonne (Bonnie) Fletcher on May 27, 1947 in Evanston, Wyoming with the vows later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.

He and his wife served an LDS mission in Spokane Washington. They also served a mission in the Ogden Temple. Pete served in various callings including high priest group leader and Sunday School Presidency.

He worked in law enforcement and was chief of police in Preston, Idaho and then went to work at the Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City as a counselor, he finished at Hill Air Force Base as a security officer. He was a member of the Ogden Elks Lodge.

He loved hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, jewelry making, rock polishing, but most of all he loved life.

Pete is survived by his children, Dee (Connie) Ward, Bancroft, Idaho; Jeri Izatt, Layton; Kent (Janet) Ward, Smithfield; and Patricia (Mitch) Ainsworth, Clearfield; 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren and a sister, IdaBeth Denton, Treasureton, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Julia; son, Brent F. Ward; son-in-law, Lonnie Izatt; sister, Colleen Olsen; grandson, Robert D. Ward and great-grandson, Anthony D. Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. where a viewing will be held prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Interment in the Ogden City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Wasatch Care Center and Vista Hospice Care.
