DATELINE: Chesterfield, SC

DECEASED: Mr. Clyde L. Brewer, age 89, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at his home.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE: 11:00 AM Monday, July 14, 2008 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Julian Cato officiating.

INTERMENT: Immediately following the service in the family plot at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Pageland, SC

VISITATION: The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

HISTORY: Mr. Brewer was born May 21, 1919 in Chesterfield County, SC a son of the late Jessie and Annie Polk Brewer. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities over the years, including Deacon, Secretary and Treasurer, as well as serving on other vital committees. Mr. Brewer was a U.S. Army WW II Veteran having served in the Casual Pool, 70th RD AAF Station # 569 where he was awarded 6 Bronze Stars, earned the Medal of Good Conduct, and the EAME Service Medal with 6 Bronze Stars. He retired from the SC Department of Transportation where he was in a supervisory capacity. Mr. Brewer was a member of the American Legion, and was one of the founding members of the Pleasant Grove Rural Water District, currently Chesterfield County Rural Water, and just recently received a plaque honoring his service. Upon retirement, he enjoyed woodworking as a hobby for many years. Mr. Brewer embraced life and was an avid fisherman and hunter during his lifetime. He particularly enjoyed fishing with his grandsons, Shane and Jason, and even in his last days told stories of how they fished on Wateree.

SURVIVORS: His memories will be cherished by his:
Wife of 65 years: Christine T. Brewer whom he loved dearly
3 Daughters: 2 Grandsons: 3 Granddaughters: 3 Great Grandsons: 4 Great Granddaughters:
1 Brother: Charles Brewer
2 Sisters: Marie Moore and Hazel Atkinson
