Maggie Elizabeth Allen Thompson, 85, died in the family home in Springer on July 24, after a short illness. She was born in Vega, Texas on August 31, 1906. She was preceded in death by daughter, Irene; a brother; three sisters and a grandson.

When she was six months old, she moved with her family to Solano, near Roy, New Mexico. She married Ralph Thompson on January 19, 1925 and moved to Springer in 1946 where she lived all her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church in Springer, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was active in numerous community activities in Springer.

She is survived by five sons; James of Raton, Allen of Solano the, Clarence and Frank of Springer, and Fred of Quemado; one daughter, Ida Mae Tuttle of Bowie, Texas; two sisters, Elizabeth Anderson of Roy and Ida Howell of Lynwood, California; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church in Springer on Monday, July 27, with the Revs. Jack Terrel and James Talley officiating. Burial was in this Solano Cemetery.
