"While his stone lists him as Capt. Joshua Greene, his service as a Lieutenant and Captain was in 1766-7, when he was an officer in a Troop of Horse. This is from "Civil and Military Lists of RI", published in 1907, by Joseph J. Smith, Vol. 1, pages 259 and 268. So he isn't actually a Revolutionary War Veteran.
However, he did do patriotic service (a DAR term!) during the Revolutionary War when at the age of 48 in 1778 he hauled wood for the American Troops during the Battle of Rhode Island. But he didn't actually have military service during the war."
