Mrs. William Elston
Maria Elyea, wife of WIlliam Elston, was born in Chemung county, New York, Nov. 3, 1828, and died at late home in Angola, Oct. 23, 1905, aged 76 years, 11 months and 20 days. She was the mother of six children, five of them surviving her, Delphine Best, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Fred R., of Coldwater; Frank L. of Garrett; and Alva and William of Angola.
Mother Elston lived in this county about 50 years, the last nine years being in Angola. She became identified with the M.E. church in Angola some years ago. Her age prevented an active part in church work but it was a great comfort to be allied with her Christian friends who were always kind and thoughtful of her.

Maria's parents were James and Sarah A. "Sallie" ( Clearwater) Elyea.
